History of the Church Bell
The first recorded use of a church bell was in Italy in the fifth century. In the Middle Ages, a larger church required larger church bells.
They became a marking of status and a reflection of the number of followers.
Wealthier churches had more ornate bells and bell towers. It was during this time that creating custom church bells became a specialized trade.
