About This Project
Christoph Paccard Bell Foundry completed the design and installation of a 49-bell carillon to replace its current electronic system in Miller Tower at Union University, Jackson, Tennessee.
The 49 bells were cast at the Paccard Bell Foundry in Annecy, France and shipped to the United States. The bells were then assembled and installed based on the design specification developed by Christoph Paccard Bell Foundry.
The Miller Tower was constructed in 2001 and named after former Union University trustee Opha Miller. Miller established the Miller Foundation at Union University with a $1.7 million dollar gift to support the mission of the university.
“Electronics are well-made today, but it’s hard to duplicate the sound of a thousand-pound bell ringing, reverberating with a speaker system,” said Stan Christoph with Christoph Paccard Bell Foundry.”
The bells will continue to chime at regular intervals each quarter hour with a hymn at 9:50 am and 5:00 pm.
