About This Project

Designed and fabricated by Christoph Paccard Bell Foundry, the four 12” diameter bronze tower clocks and the four cast bronze bells operate with GPS precision in the 140’ tall Moulton Tower on the campus of the University of South Alabama.

Each of the four custom tower clocks were fabricated in bronze and each weighs approximately 1,000 pounds; the tower clock movements were designed with heavy bronze and stainless steel gears with worm gear to operate reliably and resist the significant and constant wind loading of this coastal, Mobile, Alabama bell tower.  The four cast bronze bells ring out clock chimes, hour strikes and celebratory swinging peals for special campus events.

The bronze bells are finely tuned and complemented with a Christoph Paccard Bell Foundry digital carillon instrument to play seasonal songs including the alma mater.
